MCP connection guide

Therapeutic ecosystem intelligence.

askTheco gives you direct access to Thecosystems: curated intelligence on the people, activities and professional networks that shape a therapeutic area.

Request access

A Thecosystems subscription is required before you can request access to askTheco. If you don't have one yet, get in touch below and we will help you set one up. Once a subscription has been purchased, we will set up your account as an individual or an organisation.

Individual access

For one person using askTheco independently. You only need to provide your name and work email address.

New organisation

For the person arranging access for a new team. Give us the organisation name so we can set it up correctly.

Join an existing organisation

For someone joining a team that already uses askTheco. Your organisation owner will need to approve your access and email address before you can connect.

If you have created an account but have not been approved, it cannot use askTheco yet. Submit this form and wait for the access-ready email before connecting.

Access enquiry

We will reply to the email address you enter here.

Connect for the first time

Start only after the access-ready email arrives. Use the approved email address throughout.

Claude

Copy the server URL and open Claude's connector settings.

ChatGPT

askTheco is a published ChatGPT plugin. Open its page and add it; there is no server URL to paste.

Open askTheco in ChatGPT

Custom MCP

Copy the URL for any client that accepts a remote Streamable HTTP server.

The Claude and Custom MCP buttons copy the server URL; the ChatGPT link opens the published plugin. Each platform still asks you to confirm and sign in.

  1. Choose your client above. In ChatGPT, add the askTheco plugin from its page. In Claude or another client, add a remote connector using https://ask.thecosystems.app/mcp. An organisation owner can add it for a managed installation, but each member connects their own account.
  2. Choose Connect. Your client finds the authorisation service automatically, so there is no token or shared password to copy.
  3. If you already have an account with the approved email address, choose Sign in. If you do not, choose Create account, use the approved address, complete email verification, then sign in.
  4. Return to your client and ask a question about a therapeutic ecosystem included in your access.
The email address must match. A different or unverified address will be refused. If you need to use another address, send a support request first.

Using the askTheco connector

When starting a conversation, be sure to instruct the platform to “use askTheco when answering this question”. This keeps your platform's search focused on the Thecosystems data rather than the open web.

Example questions to try

  • “Use askTheco when answering this question: which investigators emerge as regular pivotal trial investigators? Tell me more about them and the institutions they operate from.”
  • “Use askTheco when answering this question: I am looking to engage with people who have guideline committee and patient advocacy experience, who and what emerges?”
  • “Use askTheco when answering this question: I'm about to meet a named clinician, tell me more about their activity in a therapeutic area, and what their likely position is on my product.”

What the connector can do

askTheco is read-only. It retrieves information but never creates, changes or deletes a record.

ToolUse it for
find_experts_and_entitiesSearch people, organisations, trials, publications, guidelines, treatments and decisions.
get_entity_profileInspect one person or organisation, including its activity, sources and connections.
semantic_concept_discoveryFind material related to a concept when different wording may have been used.
traverse_ecosystem_networkTrace connections between entities, with relationship wording and supporting sources.

Access and data boundaries

Therapeutic areas

Results are limited to the ecosystems included in your access. If an area is not available to you, askTheco does not reveal whether it exists elsewhere in the service.

Contact details

Where data restrictions apply, askTheco will never share contact information. Source material and relationship wording remain available so the basis for a result is clear.

For enterprise-managed authentication, clients discover the protected-resource and authorisation-server metadata at /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource and /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server on this domain.

Support

Tell us what happened, what you expected, and which tool (Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot) you were using. We will reply by email as soon as possible.
